Children are unique and develop in their own way, however there are particular ages at which children typically develop their communication skills.
When we talk about a child's Developmental Milestones in communication, we look at their expressive and receptive language abilities. This means we find out what the child understands and how they use words and sentences to communicate.
If your child is not achieving the following skills within the age brackets below or you're noticing that your child's communication skills are behind, or different to that of other children their age, it's time to see a Speech Pathologist. We will assess your child's communication development, provide you with information and give advice for what we can do to help. If you are unsure, give us a call and we can discuss your child's skills and let you know if now is the right time to have a communication assessment.
