FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I make a booking?

Give us a call. During the initial phone call we will ask you about yourself (if self-referring for adult therapy)/your child, their strengths and challenges. We would like to know about your concerns and goals. We will find an available time to book an initial assessment and offer options for ongoing therapy times.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring any reports you have from previous assessments or medical appointments, including reports from Paediatrician, Occupational Therapist, GP, Neurologist, Psychologist, Counsellor or previous Speech Pathologist.

We would love for your child to be comfortable and happy in the new environment, so please bring their favourite toys to help them settle in.

Do I need a referral?

You don't need a referral to come and see us, but you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate from your GP.

Can I get a medicare rebate?

If you visit your GP, you may discuss with them to see if you are eligible for the Medicare rebate. This is called a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Enhanced Primary Care Plan. This rebate covers a portion (approximately $50) of up to 5 sessions per calendar year (at your GP's discretion). You will need to supply your plan to Reception or your Speech Pathologist before the session for which you wish to claim. We can process your claim through HICAPS.

Do you accept Private Health Insurance?

Yes, we can accept most private health funds. Please be mindful to check your level of cover to ensure you are eligible to claim for Speech Pathology Services. We can process your claim following each session through HICAPS.

Do you accept NDIS funding?

We are not registered with NDIS, therefore we cannot accept 'Agency Managed' NDIS plans. However, if your 'Improved Daily Living' or 'Capacity Building' funds are 'Self Managed' or 'Planner Managed' (by a third party) we can accept your funding. Please provide your Planner's details including name, business, phone number and email address for us to forward your invoices to the correct person.

How do I cancel or change my session?

To cancel or reschedule your session, please give Reception a call or email/text your Speech Pathologist. Please provide more than 24hours notice of your cancellation or reschedule.

Do you have a cancellation fee?

Yes. As our session times are booked in advance, we require sufficient notice of any cancellation or rescheduled session. Please inform us of any cancellation or rescheduling before 1pm the day prior to your session. If your session is cancelled after 1pm the day before or you fail to attend your session, a 100% cancellation fee applies.

To avoid the cancellation fee, you may:

- organise a Telehealth session at your regular session time,

- request home tasks from your therapist

- organise a phone consult to discuss your child's progress and further home practice for the week

Do you do telehealth or home visits?

Yes, we provide services via the online platform, Zoom. We are happy to see you via Telehealth, however we will let you know if this may not be suitable for you, your child or the type of therapy we implement. We are also happy to come and see you in your home (within the Hills District and parts of the Hawkesbury region only). Please note there is additional travel fee involved for home visits. Please speak to our Receptionist or your Speech Pathologist to discuss the fees and options.

Can you come to my school?

We may be able to provide therapy at your school (within the Hills District and parts of the Hawkesbury region only). Please let us know if this is a preference for your therapy. Please note that this will also be at the discretion of your school, so it might be worthwhile having a chat to the school first to see if they would be happy to accept us. There may be an additional travel fee involved for school visits.

Is your office Accessible?

Yes it is. There is an accessible ramp outside, accessible toilets and a lift inside to help you up to Level 1.
